São Marcos Patriarchal Athenaeum – Wisdom that serves, faith that enlightens.
We are a house of theological, spiritual and human formation, founded under the protection of the holy hierarch Saint Mark of Ephesus, a beacon of Orthodoxy and an unwavering defender of the faith of the Apostles.
The Patriarchal Athenaeum of St. Mark was born within the Slavic Orthodox Church in America, in response to the call to form faithful servants, vigilant pastors, enlightened catechists and disciples rooted in the Holy Tradition.
Here, theological study is not just academic, but spiritual: every lesson, every reading, every prayer is part of a journey of inner transfiguration. We are a school of vigilance, silence, and light—where the mind is formed in truth and the heart is shaped by prayer.
Our faculty is made up of priests, monks, deacons and consecrated lay people, all committed to doctrinal fidelity, sacramental life and teaching with humility and depth.
We offer programs in Orthodox Theology, Byzantine Philosophy, Greek Language, and Patristics, integrating learning and holiness, liturgy and action, study and mission. Each student is invited to grow as a person, as a Christian, and as a servant of the Body of Christ.
Our mission is clear: to form servants who know the Truth, love the Church and proclaim the Kingdom with discernment, piety and courage.
