Teachers and staff
At the Patriarchal Athenaeum of St. Mark, teaching is not merely academic: it is an extension of the liturgical life of the Church. Each class is experienced as a moment of integral formation, where the mind opens to theology and the heart is formed in prayer.

Our Rector
Rev. Archpriest Semião of the Holy Spirit
Archpriest Semiao is the current rector of the Patriarchal Athenaeum of St. Mark, a priest of the Holy Slavic Orthodox Church in America, renowned for his deep piety, pastoral wisdom and fidelity to the Tradition of the Holy Fathers.
A man of silent prayer and precise words, Father Semião leads the university with a spirit of service, zeal for spiritual formation and ecclesial discernment. His leadership is marked by inner vigilance (νῆψις), doctrinal firmness and a paternal and welcoming love for each student who seeks to deepen their knowledge of the mystery of Christ.
Trained in Orthodox theology and with pastoral experience in missionary communities, he sees teaching not as a mere transmission of content, but as a call to metanoia, to the conversion of the heart through the beauty of the Gospel.
As rector, he not only teaches and administers, but lives among the students, accompanies their spiritual processes, celebrates services, hears confessions and guides vocations with charity and firmness.
“An Orthodox rector must first be a servant of the Church and a prayerful person before God, before being anything else.”
— Archpriest Semião
